On June 18, 2014 the CSF Visa Experts’ group had a kick-off meeting organised by the Stefan Batory Founation in Warsaw.
After a successful first phase of the project in 2013, the project continued also in 2014-2015. The cooperation with experts from the Stefan Batory Foundation, the Ghent University as well as the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University in Kaliningrad is on-going, an expert from the Eastern Partnership has joined the group as the visa dialogue in the Eastern Parnership countries will be an interesting comparison analysis taking into account broader EU-Russia relations.
In the course of the workshop, the experts discussed inter alia the arguments for visa liberalisation in current political situation, strategy for the advocacy work, visa-free impact on the EU and Russian economies as well as migration and security measures in the context of "Common Steps" (document describing the measures towards visa-free regime between the EU and Russia).
The first follow-up report draft will have been prepared by the end of August 2014. Meanwhile, the visa group will be involved in the advocacy work and activities promoting recommendations of the Visa Report 2013.
