Open Call Mechanism (OCM) is an initiative of The EU-Russia Civil Society Forum (CSF) aimed to support the projects designed by CSF members
The specific objectives of this Open Call were:
To establish and expand dialogue and exchange between the EU and Russian societies,
To increase visibility of civil society in Russia and the EU member states,
To broaden networking and on-going cooperation among CSF members, to enhance internationalisation, promote activities and projects of the CSF members.
THE COMPETENT JURY HAS CHOSEN 8 PROJECTS TO RECEIVE SUPPORT FROM THE CSF:
RIGHTS IN PRISON. EU-RUSSIA CIVIL SOCIETY FORUM AND THE DEFENSE OF FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS IN THE PENITENTIARY SYSTEM - ANTIGONE ONLUS ASSOCIATION (ROME, ITALY)
Implementation dates: 1 April 2016 / 31 March 2017
The project intends to strengthen cooperation and exchange of experiences of civil society organizations engaged in the protection of fundamental rights in prison in the EU and in Russia. The information collected will provide a networking tool for organizations that are working in the same field but might not be aware of that, and a showcase for their work.
IMPLEMENTATION OF THE EXHIBITION "DIFFERENT WARS: NATIONAL SCHOOL TEXTBOOKS ON WWII" - ANTIKOMPLEX (PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC)

The exhibition “Different Wars” reveals the differences in the narration and perception of the history of the Second World War in latest and most commonly used schools high school textbooks of the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Poland and Russia. The group produced the exhibition in English under the Forum’s Subgrant programme 2014-2015 that was also funded by the MFA The Netherlands. The Russian version of the exhibition will be produced in February 2016 and funded by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Moscow. For more information on the exhibition, please click here.
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION AND CIVILIAN CONTROL ON RADIOACTIVE WASTE DISPOSAL IN THE EU AND RUSSIA - ENVIRONMENTAL RIGHTS CENTRE BELLONA (ST. PETERSBURG, RUSSIA)
Implementation dates: 1 April 2016 / 31 March 2017
The idea of the project is to exchange best practices of public participation in radioactive waste management between NGOs of Russia, Germany, France, Sweden and Finland through joint working meetings, site visits, round tables, and public events.
SCHOOLS - NGOS: BRIDGES OF COOPERATION - INTERRA (RUSSIA, KRASNOYARSK)
Implementation dates: 1 July 2016 / 31 December 2017
The project creates the conditions for the establishment of long-term trusting partnerships between state educational institutions and Russian non-governmental organizations, as well as for a more intensive exchange with European colleagues in the practice of interaction of schools and NGOs in the field of civic education in the context of the Council of Europe Charter on education for democratic citizenship.

FIGHTING TRANSBORDER CORRUPTION: BUILDING CAPACITY FOR EU AND RUSSIAN CIVIL INVESTIGATORS - NETHERLANDS HELSINKI COMMITTEE (THE HAGUE, NETHERLANDS)

The proposed project is aimed at supporting efforts of the working group “Fighting Transborder Corruption”, improving skills and knowledge of investigators, defining standards of better quality investigations, fostering international investigation, promoting for the international information and experience exchange. These goals will be achieved through a study program including seminars, networking, and production of a new report of the group.
COMIC STAR - CREATIVE INCLUSION IN BUDAPEST AND ST. PETERSBURG - SUBJECTIVE VALUES FOUNDATION (BUDAPEST, HUNGARY)

Teenagers from orphanages in St. Petersburg and from “second chance schools” (Dobbantó) in Budapest will work in groups on scenarios for comics. Professional comic artists will take the best scenarios and draw comics on their basis. The winner groups will exhibit the comics, present them in the frame of an exhibition programme.
CAPACITY BUILDING: MOVING STORIES - NARRATIVES OF MIGRATION CROSSING EUROPE - UNITED FOR INTERCULTURAL ACTION (AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS)

The project aims to better combine strengths and visibility of the UNITED Network and the EU-Russia CSF in the field of migration. As the raise of populist movements and parties across Europe – combined to the increased stream of asylum seekers arriving- clearly shows, migration is being instrumentalised by various actors in order to manipulate civil societies and to use migrant population as scapegoats to justify other dysfunctions.
