COUNTRIES' CASES: WHAT IS HAPPENING WITHIN THE CIVIL SOCIETY
“What is happening within the Civil Society” is a series of publications by the EU-Russia Civil Society Forum. Following a request by Forum members, we are launching this product, which is aimed at providing a better overview of the current state of civil society in single EU countries.
Interviews with prominent civil society actors, representatives of authorities, journalists, researchers and other insiders from the country in question constitute the basis for the research.
THE RESPONDENTS GIVE ANSWERS TO FIVE KEY QUESTIONS:
What are the major trends affecting the state of civil society in your country?
What impact do these trends have on the country’s relations to other EU states and to Russia?
Can you give some examples of best practices in the civil society field in your country?
Have you observed any negative trends in the development of civil society? How do you think there could be dealt with?
How do you see the future of a “civil society beyond borders”, especially regarding EU-Russia relations? How might your country contribute to that vision?
Besides the answers to these questions, here you will also find some additional information – such as research data, links, charts, etc. – which will hopefully contribute to a better understanding of the state of civil society in the countries.
