Interregional non-governmental organization “Committee against Torture” initiates all Russian campaign under the name of “Law enforcement officer, remember the Oath!”, timed to coincide with the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, celebrated annually on 26th of June.

The main idea is to remind, by means of information boards with the quotations from the law enforcement officers’ oath provisions, Police, Investigation Committee and Prosecutor’s office and all other citizens to revere the Constitution and to defend people’s rights and freedoms. Unfortunately, only two regions, where there are representative offices and branches of the Committee against Torture, managed to agree on allocation of such information boards, namely: Nizhny Novgorod and Orenburg regions.

In the republic of Mari El and Bashkortostan already paid models were in the last moment refused to be set on the billboards. In Yoshkar-Ola rejection was explained by the fact that the local administration is taking currently existing places for public service announcements. In Ufa advertisers honestly stated that the placement of such information boards was not actually agreed with the municipal administration. The representative of the administration office first proposed to change the text layout to “Law enforcement officer, we believe that you remember your oath”, but eventually also this option was rejected.
