Journalismfund.eu is a non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing investigative and independent journalism across Europe in order to promote democracy. It ultimately serves the public interest, furthers accountability as well as transparency, and contributes to critical thinking and well-informed debate.

With this pilot project, Journalismfund.eu aims at addressing the shortage of local independent journalism by awarding grants to local investigative journalistic projects in Belgium and the Netherlands and by stimulating the cross-border collaboration.

Operates in Flanders 

The Pascal Decroos Fund for Investigative Journalism is Journalismfund.eu’s grant programme that strives to advance investigative journalism in the Flemish media. The programme awards grants to distinctive journalistic projects. The grant gives experienced as well as young journalists the chance to execute their investigative ideas and by doing so, contribute to quality investigative journalism in Flanders.

Operates in Europe* 

The European Cross-Border Grant programme will support professional journalists, who have good ideas for cross-border investigations and for research on European affairs. The stories must be relevant to European target groups.

* Teams of journalists from at least two European countries who have good ideas for cross-border investigation and for research on European affairs. Journalismfund.eu supports journalists living in a Council of Europe country (geographical Europe). When relevant for the story, team members from elsewhere can be accepted, too.
