Reporters Instructed in Saving Colleagues
RISC is dedicated to promoting the safety of freelance journalists working in conflict zones. It provides comprehensive emergency first aid training to help mitigate many of the physical threats they face while on the job. RISC’s goal is to make first aid training and preparedness an industry norm, like having a flak jacket and helmet, and to prevent unnecessary deaths in a profession that is so vital to human dignity and human rights.
Open Technology Fund
The Open Technology Fund (OTF) is a non-profit organization committed to advancing global Internet freedom. OTF supports projects focused on counteracting repressive censorship and surveillance, enabling citizens worldwide to exercise their fundamental human rights online.

The Science Fund for Investigative Reporting has a long history of investigative journalism, from a pioneering look at the shaky science of dietary fat to a recent exposé on predatory publishers and a data-driven study of who illegally downloads scientific papers.
Freelance Investigative Reporters and Editors
FIRE operates as a nonprofit project of IRE, but raises its own funding. It has relied on contributions from individual donors, support from the Ford Foundation, and a current two-year grant from the Jonathan Logan Family Foundation. FIRE also has a partnership with the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press to provide legal services for freelancers who receive FIRE services.

The Logan Nonfiction Program’s mission is to empower writers, documentary filmmakers, photojournalists and multimedia creators to complete the nonfiction that changes our world.
