WHY IS THIS WORKING GROUP IMPORTANT?
Democracy is based on several pillars – free elections, guarantees for minorities and a system of human rights protection, main power given to the people and conditions allowing to ensure that this system works. The latter primarily means tools for civic oversight (transparency, accountability and division of powers between executive, legislative and judiciary).
The group is focused on mechanisms ensuring that power is not abused – elections and guarantees for civic oversight including those that refer to different powers (executive, legislative and judiciary).
