Yuri Dmitriev Released from Detention

Yuri Dmitriev, Head of Memorial Karelia, who is tried on child pornography charges, was released from pre-trial detention on 27 January 2018.

Dmitriev left the detention centre in Petrozavodsk in the early morning on condition he cannot leave the city without police permission. The release should have taken place on 28 January, on his birthday (the historian turned 62).
